Falklands Air War: A Chronological Account of Air Operations During Falklands War of 1982 by Chris Hobson, Andrew Noble. Aerofax Midland Pub Ltd; ISBN: 1857801261
This is the first serious in-depth analysis of the role of air power in the Falklands conflict. A number of instant books were published in the 1980s soon after the events in the South Atlantic bases had occurred; it is now time for a more reflective and analytical work.  The book is a comprehensive history of the role of British and Argentinian air power in the conflict. The narrative is enhanced with extracts from interviews with personnel involved. Many of the book's  illustrations, from the collections of participants rather than official sources, are published here for the first time. Details of individual aircraft and ships are given with and a detailed chronology of the course of the conflict. The book, written by a respected military writer and researcher who is Head Librarian at the Joint Services Command and Staff College at Shrivenham, sets out to position the war in a historical perspective, and to draw conclusions and lessons from the campaign which are applicable today.

Argentina's continuing claim to sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, against Britain, was still in the hands of the United Nations when in 1982, Argentine troops seized the islands in a lightning raid. It details a conflit whose global  repercussions and after effects can still be felt in the world, focusing on the long-range logistics of the conflict for the RAF, the difficult conditions in the South Atlantic, and the successes and failures of British tactics. Argentine Forces in the Falklands (Men-At-Arms, No. 250)  . By Nicholas Van Der Bijl ; Osprey Publishing, Ltd. (UK); ISBN: 1855322277. Our Price: £10.13  RRP:
Contrary to some opinions expressed at the time, Argentine troops deployed to the Falklands, and which engaged the British troops sent to recapture the islands, were not largely 16-year-old conscripts but experienced, well-trained troops. Certain "elite" units were also deployed to the islands by the Argentinians including 601 and 602  Marine Commando Companies and 5th Marine Infantry Battalion. Although plagued by bad relations between officers and men, the Argentine force fought determindley during many of the engagements of the Falklands War and battles such as Goose Green and the assault on Mount Tumbledown were bloody, hard-fought affairs. This book looks at the arms, equipment and organization of the Argentine troops who captured and attempted, unsuccessfully, to hold the Falkland Islands.

Air War South Atlantic, by Jeffrey Ethell and Alfred Price. ISBN: 0515091502
Ethell and Price present a summation of the air war in and around the Falklands Islands during the 1982 war. The detail is complete, down to a complete chronology, summaries of important missions, details on combat , aircraft losses, successful strikes, and opposing order of battle comparisons. This is a book more aimed at the military buff or military historian. Beyond the day-to-day action, the most interesting facet of this book is a revelation of the immense strategic effect British naval air power played in the contest. The embarked Fleet Air Arm squadrons sealed off the Argentine garrison, repeatedly drove Argentian aircraft away from support of their own troops, and devised tactics to defeat numerically superior forces.
